A couple years back, two Charleston retirees worked to start the Begin With Books program. Today, kids in six rural Charleston-area ZIP codes can receive a book each month free of charge.

So far the program has deliverd 4,850 books locally to more than 615 kids, and the focus is on expanding it to even more ZIP codes.

The Post and Courier has the story on the program, and you can learn more on the group's website.
