JAC WEEK - SC Hit Parade feat. CJO Chamber Ensemble

THURSDAY, APRIL 12

Memminger Auditorium
56 Beaufain St.
7-11pm

This debut of the Charleston Jazz Orchestra Chamber Ensemble features a special reprised program and adapted arrangements for the evening’s South Carolina Hit Parade. The original South Carolina Hit Parade was produced by Jack McCray headlined as the Charlton Singleton Orchestra, presented by Jazz Artists of Charleston. This inauguaral concert marked the birth of what is now Charleston’s own resident big band, the Charleston Jazz Orchestra. The orchestra made its debut March 22, 2008 at the Charleston Music Hall – CJO’s current House of Swing with a mere 327 people in the audience – what we all considered a great success. We return to our humble beginnings, paying tribute to our dear producer, colleague, advisor and friend, Jack McCray, with the debut of this special 9-piece chamber ensemble and a reprise of the SC Hit Parade’s repetoire, including music composed, arranged and made famous by South Carolina musicians. Please note that this is also our annual main spring fundraising event. We hope you will join us for this incredible evening!
