  First Report: Myrtle Beach will host its first-ever "Responsible Dog Ownership Day" on Sat., Sept. 17, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Forestbrook Baptist Church, 2051 Forestbrook Road. 

September is the AKC's "Responsible Dog Ownership Month", nationally promoting the importance for the dog-loving public to be responsible owners.  This event is free to the area public and leashed dogs, and will include activities and demonstrations for the entertainment and education of guests.  A Dog Food Drive and monetary donations will benefit the Horry County Animal Care Center.

Hosted by Coastal Canine Dog Sports, LLC and Sunny Dogs Training Company, activities at this event include appearances by Horry County Police dogs and mobility service dogs; demonstrations of fun dog sports, a Canine Good Citizen(TM) evaluation and dog safety lessons; a "Meet the Breeds" parade; and a Kids Coloring Contest. Guests can visit booths to learn about grooming, training, doggie day care & boarding, and animal rescue.
