“It’s all the things we can’t explain that make us human”, according to the lyrics from one of Civil Twilights singles, Human. And there’s certainly an unexplainably addicting quality to the sounds coming off of their self-titled album.

Their nationwide tour has just kicked-off, and will make a stop at the Windjammer on the Isle of Palms on May 20. Tickets are only $5 and can be purchased online in advance at www.the-windjammer.com/music.html or at the Windjammer.

Raised in Cape Town, South Africa, the three ‘friendsbrothers’ that make up the group have exploded on the alternative music scene in the past year. This week alone, the group performed live on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show on ABC, and had their song ‘Save Yourself’ featured on MTV’s The Hills premiere episode of their final season. While their African roots are apparent lyrically and emotionally, the sound is heavily influenced by British and American rock icons such as U2, Nirvana, Oasis and Radiohead. Check out this live version of their debut hit single, "Letters from the Sky".
