USS Yorktown transforming for Carrier Classic; Discount tickets available

Update: The game has been canceled

The USS Yorktown is starting to look more and more like a basketball arena as it readies for Friday's Carrier Classic.

The Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum posted a picture on their Facebook page of the ship’s latest edition - seats. There is also a picture of the stadium lights being brought on deck.

The seats and lights are being installed for the upcoming Carrier Classic this Friday (11/9). This will be the second year of the college basketball event, which is played on the deck of a Navy aircraft carrier. The first Carrier Classic was held last year in San Diego on the USS Carl Vinson.

This year is a double-header, with the women’s teams of Notre Dame and Ohio State playing first, followed by the men’s teams from Marquette and Ohio State.

With the game just days away, the USS Yorktown Association has announced they will sell a limited number of tickets at a 40% discounted rate of $300 each. The tickets will get you on board for both the men's and women's games.
