Update April 28: The Lowcountry HighRollers are a force to be reckoned with.

The Upstate Roller Girl Evolution felt that force over the weekend when they were crushed by the HighRollers 206-93. The Charleston City Paper shot some fun footage of the girls whooping up on the competition and the rollerskating breakdancing halftime show.

Check it out.

Even better though is BadJon's videoblog, "What Makes a Derby Girl?" Watch it here.

First reporting: The Lowcountry HighRollers want you to take a trip down the rabbit hole with them on April 23rd during their upcoming bout with Malice in Wonderland.

Your favorite hip-checking, booty-blocking warriors will be hosting the Greenville’s Upstate Roller Girl Evolution at The Citadel's McAlister Field House, located at 171 Moultrie Street. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the bout begins at 6 p.m.

The bout will have beer and music by DJ duo Cassidy & the Kid, plus face-painting for the younger fans and a chance for them to play Alice in Wonderland-themed games at half-time. Keep partying with the HighRollers afterward at Patrick’s Pub at 1377 Ashley River Road.

Bout admission is $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Children 10 and younger get in free. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Charleston HALOS, which supports abused and neglected children.
