SoCon Tournament kicks off today at Riley Park (updated)

First reporting:

Today marks the beginning of the 2010 Southern Conference Tournament at The Joe.

The Citadel opens the 2010 SoCon Tournament as the top seed and will face No. 8 Furman at 5 p.m. this evening at Riley Park. The Bulldogs clinched the outright regular season title by sweeping Georgia Southern in Statesboro last week.

The College of Charleston will take on No. 7 ranked Appalachian State at 9 a.m. The Cougars haven't the Mountaineers in the postseason since 2007 when the Cougars were eliminated with a 11-10 loss.

Update May 26:

The College of Charleston Cougars came out victorious over Appalachian State in an eleven-inning game this morning.

The final score was 12-11 with the No. 2 seeded Cougars headed into a game tomorrow versus the winner of tonight' match-up between Georgia Southern and Western Carolina.
