If you love being on the water but can't get your friends to dip in a toe, there are several local groups hosting regular kayak trips open to experienced and novice paddlers.

The Charleston Sea Kayaking MeetUp Group is an informal community of more than 400 kayakers. Volunteer organizers schedule regular paddling trips around the Lowcountry. Sea Kayak Carolina sponsors the group and often makes inexpensive rentals available for group events.

Kayak Meet-Uppers are celebrating the one-year anniversary of the start of the group this Saturday, November 21, with a morning paddle and lunch at the Sunset Cay Marina on Folly Beach.

Paddle over to the Meetup site for more information and photos of recent trips. You can also check the calendar for other upcoming events.

Another local kayak group, Lowcountry Paddlers is a full-on club with dues, a newsletter, and regular monthly meetings. Club members organize trips throughout the year. Check out their event page.
