Mountain biking in Horry County? REALLY? While most are quick to point out that there are no mountains along the Coastal plains, that doesn't stop the Waccamaw Trail Blazers from turning the Grand Strand into a fun and challenging place to ride.
Since 2010 the Waccamaw Trail Blazers have built a thriving little community of bikers and bike enthusiast. On any given afternoon you will find active post on their Facebook page talking about a meet-up or trail ride or even trail maintenance. While the new Cox Ferry Lake Recreation Area serves as their base trail, the Waccamaw Trail Blazer are constantly traveling around the Southeast carving up new ruts in trails.
The Waccamaw Trail Blazers monthly meet-up is taking place tonight (July 7, 2011) at Beach Bikes in downtown Myrtle Beach from 7-8 pm. There will be how-to sessions, info on new race series taking place, a raffle, and an opportunity to check out some of the latest riding accessories. Beginners, novices, experts or just want to know more all are invited to see what mountain biking in Horry County is all about.
