If you're a woman interested in learning how to run a successful political campaign, the Coastal Carolina University's Women in Philanthropy and Leadership is hosting a one-day workshop called "Take your seat" on Saturday, October 15, 2011.

The statistics of women participating in politics in South Carolina are dismal.  According to a recent press release:

South Carolina trails the nation in electing women to public office and has the only single-gender legislative chamber in the U.S.

The session will be from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Wall auditorium on the CCU campus and aims at educating on topics from campaign management to social media.  The registration fee is $50, $35 for students with ID.  This workshop is for candidates, prospective candidates, advancing candidates, and people interested in becoming more actively involved in politics.  For more information, visit the Women in Philanthropy and Leadership's site here.
