The 2010 Census numbers have been released; that means it is time once against for the state Senate Redistricting Subcommittee to redraw and readjust new legislative and congressional districts.
The subcommittee is hosting a public hearing Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. at Trident Technical College to collect input from the Lowcountry on drawing new legislative and congressional districts in Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Georgetown, Hampton, Jasper, and Orangeburg counties.
According to the article in The Post and Courier, public feedback is sought in order to avoid splitting up communities and to keep voting precincts intact.
