A special breed of carolers take to the streets for Charleston's annual 'Unsilent Night'

For the 6th year running, the New Music Collective is inviting the residents of Charleston to come out and help fill the air with the ambient music of Phil Kline's Unsilent Night.

Here's how it works:

On December 17th, participants are asked to meet at 5 p.m. at the City Gallery at Waterfront Park, located at 34 Prioleau Street. At the meeting point, NMC members will distribute the media to participants (who are asked to bring your own boom box or ipod with speakers, or any media playing device you wish). On the count of three everyone hits play at around the same time and then walk the streets of this city reveling in how the sound bounces off different buildings and watching the surprised faces light up with holiday cheer.

With your help, NMC hopes to create a roving sound installation, where boomboxes replace voices in a holiday caroling event like no other.

Anyone interested and available to participate should rsvp to ron@newmusiccollective.org.
