Update April 4: Bikes were being sold like hot cakes on the College of Charleston campus today. So fast, in fact, that the Bike Auction was over well before 1 p.m.

Used road bikes, cruisers, kiddie bikes and mountain bikes were up on the auction block with most going for less than $50 a pop.

Check out the slideshow above for some shots from the event.

Bummed that you missed it? You'll have to wait until the fall for the next one.

First reporting: Hundreds of reclaimed “as is” bikes will be up for auction on George Street tomorrow for the annual College of Charleston Bike Auction.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, right in front of the Stern Center, any and all are welcome to swing by and pick up a bike. Last year, most were sold for $30-$100, so this is a great way to get a good bike on the cheap.

Charleston Moves will be on hand to offer bicycle safety tips and information.

The Bike Auction will take place rain or shine and all purchases are final. Bring cash or checks — cards will not be accepted. All proceeds will benefit the College of Charleston Student Government Association.
