On Saturday, October 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or until supplies last, the 2012 Johns Island Convoy of Hope community outreach event will offer complimentary goods and services such as job training, employment opportunities, groceries, haircuts, health and medical education for families in need on and around Johns Island.

The event will take place at St. Johns High School at 1518 Main Road on Johns Island. Residents of Johns and Wadmalaw islands and surrounding areas are invited to attend. This is a family-friendly event with entertainment for children including a carnival area, Christmas gifts, a jump castle, live entertainment, food and much more! The event and all services are free and open to the public.

The community has come together to host this event along with the Johns Island Convoy of Hope chapter. Local residents, churches and businesses, including Kiawah Island Community Association (KICA) and its Kiawah Cares volunteer team, have pitched-in to plan, advertise, fund and staff this outreach event.

Even with the support of so many, there is still a need for volunteers and donations to ensure that the estimated 2,500 people attending the Convoy of Hope will not walk away empty-handed. Specific needs include monetary donations and volunteer services that include clerical work, grocery bag stuffing, flyer distribution, set up and break down assistance and day-of staffing.
