S.C.'s televised debates for governor, other races (update: watch them online)

Update: All that's left to happen are the two governor's debates (tonight, tomorrow, the 25th, 26th) and you can watch them all online. I've added the links below.

Below is an assemblance of all the televised political debates for public office that we could find. And remember voting is good, informed voting is better.

All debates are televised on S.C. ETV except where otherwise noted, governor debates are bolded. As usual, check you local listing the day of for specifics.

  • Monday, October 4, 7 p.m. - Superintendent of Education: Republican Mick Zais and Democrat Frank Holleman will take part in this live debate. Watch it online here.
  • Sunday, October 10, 1 p.m. - US Congressional District 3: GOP Jeff Duncan and Democrat Jane Dyer will face off in this debate that will be pre-recorded on Tuesday, October 5 at 11 a.m. Watch it online here.
  • Sunday, October 10, 2 p.m. - US Congressional District 4: Republican Trey Gowdy and Democrat Paul Corden will face off in this debate that will be pre-recorded on Tuesday, October 5 at 2 p.m. Watch it online here.
  • Sunday, October 17, 1 p.m. - US Congressional District 5: Democratic incumbent John Spratt and Republican challenger Mick Mulvaney will face off in this debate that will be pre-recorded on Friday, October 15 at 11 a.m. Watch it online here.
  • Monday, October 18, 7 p.m. - Lt. Governor: Republican Ken Ard and Democrat Ashley Cooper will take part in this LIVE debate. Watch it online here.
  • Tuesday, October 19 - Governor: Republican Nikki Haley and Democrat Vincent Sheheen will debate hosted by WSPA News Channel 7 at  7 p.m. - Spartanburg - Sold out - Watch it online here, Mac users will need this plugin.
  • Friday, October 22, 1 p.m. - Attorney General: Republican Alan Wilson and Democrat Matthew Richardson will face off in this 30-minute debate that will be pre-recorded on Thursday, October 21, at 10 a.m. Watch it online here.
  • Friday, October 22, 1:30 p.m. - Comptroller General: Republican incumbent Richard Eckstrom and Democratic challenger Robert Barber will face off in this 30-minute debate that will be pre-recorded on Thursday, October 21, at 11 a.m. Watch it online here.
  • Sunday, October 24, 2 p.m. - US Congressional District 2: Republican incumbent Joe Wilson and Democratic challenger Rob Miller will take part. Watch it online here.
  • Monday, October 25, 7 p.m. - Governor: Republican Nikki Haley and Democrat Vincent Sheheen will take part in this live debate that is part of the ETV Election Central series of debates. The debate will also be broadcast of C-SPAN and you can watch it online here.
  • Tuesday, October 26 - Governor: Republican Nikki Haley and Democrat Vincent Sheheen will debate hosted  by Francis Marion University, Coastal Carolina University, WBTW-TV 13, The Morning News, and  scnow.com, Myrtle Beach/Florence

Keen readers will not there are no televised debates listed for two Charleston U.S. House seats: 

  • 1st Congressional District where the two new challengers Republican Tim Scott and Democrat Ben Frasier are facing off; and
  • 6th Congressional District where incumbent Democrat Jim Clyburn and Republican Jim Pratt are facing off.

The Post and Courier says in both instances a debate agreement couldn't be reached, with Clyburn being the only apparent willing prospect.
