Oh, you December weather swings.

I suppose the good news is that the rain won't last all day. The bad news is that pushing that rain out of our area is a rapidly approaching cold front.

Expect showers to rapidly fall off around noon and then dissipate by 6 p.m. or so. During that time winds should pick up and remain fairly strong through Tuesday morning. 

"The main concern today appears to be the potential for wind gusts exceeding 35 MPH for a period late this morning into this afternoon," said the National Weather Service in a statement. "It could be close to wind advisory criteria for some areas but we have struggled with the rapidly evolving mixing scenario during today."

Those winds signal a rush of cold air coming in that will push us down from today's high of 58 to a low of 27 tonight (50 at sunset) and high of 40 on Monday and low of 24.

As of 9:30 a.m. a band of storms pushing through the coast was visible.
