All South Carolina DMV's will be closed on Thursday, May 10, 2012 in observance of Confederate Memorial Day.  

A statement over at SCDMVonline.com reads in part, "The days before and after a holiday are usually very busy at DMV offices. Customers may want to choose another time to visit their local DMV office or process their transactions online."

Only nine states officially observe Confederate Memorial Day: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. 

We assume the SC DMV's will also be closed on actual Memorial Day, Monday, May 28th.
