Update 2/26/2012: The local drift enthusiasts are pumped about today's event. We've got a more detailed schedule for you as well.

Zach Sebald, one of the key members and organizers says they have confirmed entries from other states such as North Carolina, Georgia, and Tennesee. Open practice runs are from 12:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at which point qualifiying will begin. The top eight from the finals will be paired up for the tandem event (two cars on the track at one time). After the competition, the track is open for "fun runs" which some say is when the show really can get wild because the drivers have nothing to lose.

TheDigitel will be attending throughout the day sharing the local love and some stickers.

First Report: At the beginning of the year, we reported on the local car drifting club called MB Drift and their grassroots effort to share their sport. This weekend, the group is hosting their first regional competition event at Myrtle Beach Speedway.

On Sunday, February 26, the 2012 Braggin' Rights Competition Points Series begins at noon. It costs $10 to get in and everyone is encouraged to bring chairs, grills, and coolers (just no glass, please) to enjoy what should be perfect weather for spending time outdoors. It's a family-friendly event as kids under 12 get in free. For $5, you can take a wild ride around the drift course. TheDigitel will be giving out stickers and covering the action. The Facebook event is here.

DropJaw Winter Cruize

To make it a full weekend for gearheads, Saturday at Myrtle Beach Speedway is also the final stop on the DropJaw Winter Cruize where there will be a judged car show, stereo competition, and various contests for cash prizes. The awards ceremony for DropJaw will take place on Sunday so there should be a good crowd for the competition. More details are here.
