Lowcountry blogger Heather Solos will visit our little piece of the coast on Tuesday, December 13, as she participates in Lowe's Foods 17th annual Friends Feeding Friends food drive.

Solos made a big splash earlier this year with her first book, "Skills for Everyday Living" which was listed as Amazon.com's Best of 2011 for the Home & Garden category. She has participated in Cooking With the Troops which led her to also represent the group at the NASDAQ in Times Square this year. It all started in 2007 with her blog that aims to give her readers "real skills for real life." She has been a key coordinator with the Charleston blogging and social media scene for many years.

Oh, and she does all this while keeping her four kids and husband in check. It's no wonder why Lowe's Foods chose her to be a guest cashier for this event.

"Social media is an important news and information channel for grocery stores and consumers alike," said Lisa Selip, director of marketing for Lowes Foods. "These bloggers already share so much information on food, nutrition and savings, it seemed like a natural fit to involve them."

Solos will be at the Lowe's Foods over by the Grande Dunes on Cipriana Drive and ringing up groceries from 10 a.m. until noon.

[Disclosure: We run ads for Heather's book on our site but it's not a paid placement. We just like her a whole lot.]
