On Wednesday, August 17th, from Alaska to Florida and everywhere in between, landscape architects across the country will hold simultaneous events at lunchtime to educate the public about their role in the environment around them.

Landscape architects design iconic places like New York City’s Central Park and the FDR Memorial in Washington, D.C., but also downtown squares, local parks and even backyards. The simultaneous events are part of a larger campaign to help bring awareness to works of landscape architecture and the designers who create them.

From noon until 1 p.m., Charleston will host local landscape architects who will create ‘chalk art’, hand out information and be available to answer questions.

• Waterfront Park (at the fountain) 12:45 - Mayor Riley will have brief presentation. Concord Street
• Marion Square - Calhoun and King Street
• College of Charleston Campus - George Street and St. Phillips Street
• MUSC - Jonathon Lucas/Doughty and President Streets
• Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital Courtyard Garden - 2095 Henry Tecklenburg Drive
• Four Corners - River Landing Drive and Seven Farms Drive, Daniel Island
• 'Chalk Art’ various areas throughout Charleston
