Skull Coast Ales, a recently opened brewery in Fort Mill, SC, is making its Charleston debut this Wednesday at 5 p.m. during Laura Albert's weekly Growler Hour with Maelstrom IPA.

Propriertor/Brewmaster David Fox will be on hand to talk about the beer and its history. That's a good thing, as although Skull Coast as both a website and a blog, I had trouble digging up a quick origin story for them.

There is a fair amount of info available on Maelstrom though.  The beer contains seven different hop varietals, which play varying roles in the 90-minute continuous hop addition during the boil as well as significant dry-hopping.  It weighs in at a healthy 7% ABV, has a B+ from BeerAdvocate after 5 reviews, and not enough reviews yet on Ratebeer to calculate a score.

Growler Hour(s) lasts from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., during which time you can drink $3 pints, get $5 off on growler fills, and $2 off on bomber fills.

Laura Albert's is located at 891 Island Park Drive on Daniel Island.
