The Loris Bog-Off, started in 1979, remains popular to this day. On October 15, 2011 from 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. come to downtown Loris for all kinds of fun and to try all the varieties of chicken bog.

With over 200 vendors there are plenty of things to do.  There will be arts and crafts tents, as well as a variety of games. There are even performances from local entertainment such as gospel singers, bands, and a parade.

The Loris Bog-Off's main attraction is the locals’ competition for the best chicken bog. The typical recipe consists mainly of chicken and rice but some prefer to add sausage, peppers, or any other secret ingredients they can imagine to make their dish stand out. People prepare for this contest all year round, perfecting their recipes to see if they can be crowned the Bog-Off Champion.
