Updates are at the bottom:

This week's Charleston Beer Exchange newsletter had a tasty bit of information and it goes by the name "Beer School."

The Charleston Beer Exchange and Kudu Coffee and Craft Beer are teaming up for a "Beer School" program. The class will be held under the stars in the outdoor courtyard at Kudu (4 Vanderhorst Street) and be taught by none other than the one and only Professor Brandon "Old Time" Plyler!

The program will consist of 4 consecutive weeks available as single classes or a complete package. The classes will be held on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. beginning June 19th. The cost is $25 per class or $80 for the whole series (4 weeks/classes). Price includes all beer samples and there will be many very interesting beers examined during the course. You must sign up in advance at The Charleston Beer Exchange or by calling (843) 577-5446. Space is limited to 30 people and the class schedule will be as follows (please note that in the event of inclement weather all remaining classes will be pushed back to the following week):

  • 6/19 Beer History: The 6,000 Years You've Missed Out On
  • 6/26 Ale vs. Lager: Everything You Know is Wrong
  • 7/3 Wines of the Beer World: A Wine Drinkers Guide to Beer Enlightenment
  • 7/10 American Innovations: Changing What the Word 'Domestic' Means and Influencing the World

This could make for a really great Father's Day gift, so act fast as the class size is limited.

Update October 31: The Charleston Beer Exchange's "Beer School" is back in session tonight at Kudu.

This is the last class of the series, so be sure to call (843) 577-5446 and reserve your spot for the event. All beer samples and Halloween candy are included in the $30 class fee. The class is held in the outdoor courtyard at Kudu so dress appropriately. In the event of inclement weather, class will be rescheduled to an alternate rain date.

Professor Brandon "Old Time" Plyler will drop some knowledge on you while in a hot dog costume. So yes, costumes are encouraged!
