First reporting: Well people, the Holy City has arrived.  Executives from one of Belgium's most celebrated and one of the world's last Trappist breweries, Chimay, will be spending a month in the Charleston market promoting their product with special events.

Not NYC.  Not even Atlanta.  Charleston.  This is big for beer culture in our community.  Read about all the juicy details and see a listing of events over at the City Paper.

There is a lot to choose from, but I would highlight the cheese and beer tastings and Charleston Beer Exchange on January 23rd and Whole Foods on January 30th.  Yes, Chimay makes cheese too, and you can bet the monks craft it to pair well with their brews.

Update January 26: The Charleston Beer Exchange's Chimay cheese-tasting and growler-filling event this past weekend was such a rousing sucecss that they ran out of everything but Chimay swag in about thirty minutes.

But don't fret, you'll get a second shot at a growler of Chimay Cinq Cents (a.k.a White, or Triple) along with a free Chimay chalice all day Saturday, January 30!  No cheese this time though, Curly.

Get the details on the Beer Exchange's blog.

And don't forget that Mellow Mushroom is hosting their own Chimay event on February 2.

Update February 11: One more time!  This Saturday, February 13th, you can once again fill a CBX growler up with Chimay and get a free chalice for doing so.  And this time, the cheese is back, baby.
