Pet Helpers on James Island is hosting a "Home for the Holidays, Overnight Adopt-a-thon Event" where you can adopt a pet free of charge (donations encouraged) and enjoy some tasty food and good times.

The event runs from 11 a.m. on Monday, December 20, until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21.

Regular adoption fees are $125 for kittens and puppies, $100 for adult cats and dogs, and $250 for dogs under 30lbs.

"All adoptions during this overnight adopt-a-thon will be in exchange for a monetary donation," the group said in a release. "When determining their donation, adopting families are encouraged to take into consideration the time, energy, and medical care costs that Pet Helpers has put into each animal, over $500 for cats, over $700 for dogs."

But about that entertainment, movies such as Homeward Bound and Beethoven will be screened during the night, food will be provided by Smokey Oak Tavern, La Hacienda Mexican Restaurant, Chick Fil A,  McDonalds, and 3 Little Birds Café. And 105.5 The Bridge will broadcast live from Pet Helpers during the entire event, and will spotlight animals each hour.

First Command Financial Planning is sponsoring three adoptions between noon and 3 on December 21st, visit during those hours and enter to win a free adoption.
