Update April 19: We've just been informed of a fun little pre-party fashion event that will be taking place on Thursday, April 28th.

The Bambu Best In Show Bash is a chance for both you and your pooch to show off your high-fashion. Pooches must be dressed to impress as should their escorts (owners). Pre-Registration is required as there are a limited number of model spots available.

A panel of fashion judges will award the prestigious Top Model award to one lucky dog at end of night. Judging will be based on model’s fashion, creativity, delivery, presentation and personality.

To register, click here and download the entry form. Further instructions can be found on the form.

Bambu is located at 604 Coleman Boulevard in Mount Pleasant.

First reporting: The Charleston Dog Show celebrates its eighth year as Charleston’s official dog show on Saturday, May 7th, in Marion Square.

Welcoming dogs of all breeds and pedigrees, The Charleston Dog Show promises all of the fun and none of the fuss of a traditional dog show. The show was founded by Middleton Place Hounds in partnership with Low Country Golden Retriever Rescue Resource, Greyhound Pets of America/Charleston, and Lowcountry Lab Rescue. Dogs of all shapes, sizes, and talents are invited to show off style, form, personality, and showmanship in 14 different classes.

Entry fees are $10 per dog and per class, and participants can enter up to 10 minutes prior to each class. Top performers in each class will be awarded trophies and ribbons followed by the acclaimed Alpha Dog Omega Cat “Best In Show” award presented at the end of the day.

Held in conjunction with The Charleston Farmers Market at Marion Square, Charleston Dog Show highlights also include a ceremonial opening with the Blessing of the Dogs, Dog Rescue Village, Dog Vendors, Microchipping, Canine Good Citizen (CGC) testing (available from 9 to 11:30 a.m. for a cost of $20 per dog), Silent Auction (with pet artwork), and Obedience Demonstrations (from 12 to 2:30 p.m.).

Admission to the Charleston Dog Show is completely free, so come on out on May 7th for a great time.
