A "Carnival Revival" is coming to Charleston this weekend with full burlesque glory.

Offering up "sassy jazz and sizzling carnival", local group Carnivalesque will be at the Tin Roof in West Ashley on Saturday, December 3, from 9 p.m. until closing.

The performers are promoting the night as, "a myriad of dark delights for your viewing pleasure. Joining us will be the lovely Deanna Danger of Richmond, bringing her marvelous brand of burlesque to the stage." Tickets are $8.

Following up on Sunday, a "Boom Boom Basics Burlesque Studio" will be offered at Spirit Moves, details on that below:

11:30am--Burlesque Basics- Moves & Grooves: $15
Whether you are interested in performing burlesque, or just some moves to spice up the bedroom, this class is the first stop for new burlesque students. In this class we will be defining "burlesque," learning what it really means to "perform burlesque", where it came from and the moves that got us to today. Basic moves covered in this class are glove & stocking peels, boa work, walks, struts, bumps & grinds, and other various burlesque moves. Open to women only, no dance experience is required. Please wear exercise/yoga type clothing, including booty shorts for ease in stocking removal.

1pm--Stage Presence- Dance & Burlesque: $20
This class is recommended for students who have already delved into the world of dance, burlesque or movement performance arts, and are looking for more ways to make a bigger splash on stage! Part dance, part theater, ALL show, the aim of this class is to give the growing entertainment professional the tools needed to take his or her stage presence to the next level. Hoopers, go-go dancers, bellydancers, and other dance/theater/stage performers can benefit from this course too! If you are looking to up your stage game, this is the class for you!

Things covered in this session:
-Stage positioning
-Stage blocking & movement
-Getting your choreography to punctuate the music
-Stage faces
-Exaggerations & parody
-Audience interaction

The session will include both dance instruction and theater exercises. No dance or theater experience is required, however it is recommended that students have already taken basic burlesque (or equivalent dance/theater) instruction. Please wear exercise/yoga type clothing. Class open to women and men.

2:15pm--Business of Cabaret, Vaudeville & Burlesque: $20

Whether you want to be a fixture in your local scene, or have your eyes set on festivals, tours and beyond, this class is for you!

Deanna Danger is Richmond, Virginia's only full-time burlesquer. She has performed all up and down the East Coast, and in four different festivals (including the 2010 New York Burlesque Festival). She's produced events in Richmond, DC, New York and more, and has made all this happen in only two and a half years! Deanna has put together the top knowledge you need in your march up the burlesque ladder.

Burlesque is about much more than the performance alone, and if you are looking to make a go at this art form, then you'll want to bring plenty of pen and paper to this class! Everything from moving up from kitten to valued performer, social media, booking gigs, building your persona and business sense, and more will be covered! This 1-hour class is a MUST ATTEND for all budding burlesquers (and performance artists of ALL kinds- models, hoopers, aerialists, actors, hosts- everyone will benefit from this course)! Open to both men and women. No dance or performance experience required.

Or you can attend them all for $50.
