Update September 4: The Gamecocks won; details.

First reporting:

Come 7 p.m. tonight, September 3, college football season is back in the Carolinas as the Gamecocks take on North Carolina State.

You can watch it on ESPN.

The State has a nice preview of tonight's game and says we can expect this match to be a tight one. And USC has more facts about the matchup than you can shake a stick at.

Neither team is ranked in the top 25.

As usual, season previews abound, but I rather liked The Palmetto Scoop's 5 Reasons for Gamecock Fans to be Optimistic and 5 to be Pessimistic.

If you're a Charleston Southern fan, they kick off on Saturday the 5th at Florida, while Clemson also kicks off on Saturday at home against Middle Tennessee.
