Holy City Bike Co-op bartends, then hits the road for mystery bike ride

The Holy City Bike Co-op is guest bartending at Charleston's (in?)famous Upper Deck Tavern on Wednesday, January 14, from 8 to 10 p.m. After that, it's off for an FM radio-pumping bike ride.

Here's the party's details:
We've reserved two parking spaces outside Upper Deck Tavern and the co-op will be operating a bike valet service. If Fixed Up was any indication, we may run out of valet space almost as soon as we start. Also, HomeSpun Hoops will streetside with us--putting on a show with their hoola hoops and drums. I'm sure other businesses on King Street will sit up, take notice, and maybe even think "Hey! More bikes fit."

Inside, Street Level Lab will be projecting Duck Hunt and I will be hooking up the good people with our drink specials. I will also gladly be accepting donations which will be used to purchase professional grade bike tools. Good times will be had by all, and there may even be an opportunity to show your co-op love by purchasing our logo stickers. I say "may be" because they're in the mail. Should they arrive on time, each sticker is perfectly tailored to adorn your bicycle and will only cost a dollar.

Then, at 10:15, we ride. This Flaming Lips-themed mystery ride doesn't have a destination, but like life, it's all about the journey. Anyone can participate in the ride and those wanting to step it up a notch should strap an FM radio to their bikes. (Don't worry, we'll make sure they remain intact while parked!)

The Upper Deck is at 353 King Street in downtown Charleston.

The Holy City Bike Co-op is one of our Bronze sponsors for January 7 to 13, 2009.
