Update February 2: Charleston City Paper has a great piece on the distillery process of local liquor producer Terressentia, the makers of Maverick Vodka among other high quality spirits.

Terressentia has patented a speedy distilling process called Terrepure which perfects their product in about six hours, followed by a few days of rest. The result is gin, vodka, rum whiskey and tequila that goes head to head in taste tests with some of the world's leading brands.

First reporting: High Cotton invites Charleston to toast the new year and their new bar, new music and new vodka at a cocktail party on Wednesday, February 2nd from 6 until 10 p.m.

It’s a celebration of livin’ larger and stepping higher with a very special guest of honor, the new private label Maverick Vodka.

Charleston jazz favorite Ann Caldwell returns to High Cotton with her trio for a special performance to kick off our updated jazz series. Ann launched the jazz music at High Cotton 11 years ago, and now she is back to dedicate the new bar and performance space with her soulful blues and jazz.

Terressentia, the North Charleston-based distiller, will provide tastings to introduce guests to the Maverick private label vodka and explain how it is made with an innovative purification process. During the event, all Maverick vodka drinks will be $4 and the bar will feature a special $5 bar menu.

High Cotton is located at 199 East Bay Street in downtown Charleston.
