A three beast feast: Ted's Butcherblock celebrating five years

Has it already been five years since Ted's Butcherblock brought it's tasty beef jerky into my life?

Apparently it has and the "neighborhood butcher shop" is celebrating with one of its annual block party bashes on Saturday, October 16, from noon to 5.

They'll be doing a cook-out with live local bluegrass by The Bushels, have craft beer on tap, and offer food (details below), beer and wine samplings throughout the day.

My eye is on the whole Cuban-style roasted hog.

Cost is $12 per plate of food and $3 for the craft beer on top, a portion of proceeds will benefit the South Carolina Aquarium. -- Ted's is usually good about offering good craft beer, we've dropped them a not to find out what'll be on tap.

The main meats of the day are being dubbed a "three beast feast" from the land, air and sea:

  • Whole roast hog, Cuban-style
  • Smoked whole ducks
  • Smoked local oysters

Tastings and samples include: Polish Kabanosy, Homemade Pate w/Pulaski Mustard, Painted Hills Beef Teres Major, Eden Natural Kurobuta Bacon, Mini Quiche, and Bertolini Pasta.

They'll also be doing giveaways throughout the day.

Ted's Butcherblock is at 334 East Bay Street in downtown Charleston.
