The fall beer season kicks off in the Lowcountry with quite a few upcoming Oktoberfest celebrations - a magical and delicious German tradition spanning over 175 years.

With Closed For Bussiness's Oktoberfest a week behind us, next up comes Oktoberfest at Blackbaud Stadium. The eighth annual event, being held from 12 to 5 p.m. on October 2nd, will transform the soccer stadium into a full-on beer garden.

This year’s headline Oompah band is the Roger Gootman Sauerkraut Band; in addition to live Oompah music there will be authentic German dancers, a 64 team Corn Hole tournament, a wide selection of German beers and a variety of delicious Oktoberfest food options. Like swag? The first 1000 festival attendees will receive a free commemorative beer stein.

Closing out the festivities is the uber-popular Oktoberfest at Gene's Haufbrau on October 15th and 16th. Back for its ninth year running, Gene's is bringing back all the German-themed favorites like the sausage eating and beer wench contests, Oktoberfest king and queening, polka dancing, live oompah bands, beer specials, of course, bratwurst. 

It's $7 to get into this party, and it'll be well worth it.
