Green Drinks having BBQ meetup (canceled)

Update October 11: The event's been canceled. We received this note:
Due to circumstances beyond my control, I have been forced to cancel the Green Drinks BBQ for this coming Sunday. Unforeseen logistical issues and those involving permitting and insurance reared their ugly heads at the last minute and made this BBQ far too complex for us to execute. I am personally very upset about this as I and my team have put a significant amount of energy into this.

The original intent was to provide a fun, relaxing Sunday afternoon with great food, drinks, football, live music, and kayaking – surrounded by our friends and colleagues and this became a huge burden. We hope to be able to host an event at Hunley Waters perhaps in the spring.

We highly encourage you to check out the Pedal Tour (November 16th) and the Green Drinks Holiday Party (December 5th) - and hope that we have not inconvenienced you too much. We appreciate the efforts made by our friends from Hunley Waters, and we encourage you to cruise up to North Charleston and check out this very special neighborhood. We would like to thank our various sponsors and members of the media and wish all of you the very best.

Original post: Green Drinks Charleston is holding a BBQ meet-up on Sunday, October 12, at 3 p.m. at Hunley Waters in North Charleston (map).

The event is free.

Here's a bit a bit about the group from their Web site:
Green Drinks is a group of people from various backgrounds that get together once a month to chat about the environment at a local restaurant. The spirit of Green Drinks is that anyone can come, and this makes for the interesting interactions.

Thanks to the Charleston City Paper for tipping us off.
