Charleston Beer Exchange puts three beer events on tap this week

Just as the late spring heatwave becomes slightly more bearable, the Charleston Beer Exchange posse is warming things back up with a whopping three separate beer events this week.

First up is good ol' Rare Beer Tuesday.  This week at 5 p.m. the featured beer on the growler station will be Débutante, a brand new collaboration from Maryland brewpub The Brewer's Art and Maryland-based gypsy brewery Stillwater Artisanal Ales.  The Brewer's Art is a Belgian-focused operation, making for a glove-like fit with the saison-centric Stillwater lineup of fellow statesman Brian Strumke. Per the CBX blog, Débutante "is a 5.8% ABV Farmhouse Ale brewed with Spelt, Rye, Honeysuckle, Heather Flowers, and Hyssop.  What's Hyssop?  We didn't know either, so here's a link."

Saturday is cask time!  At 2 p.m., a firkin of Extra Pale IPA (7% ABV, B+)  from Huger Street's own Palmetto Brewing Company will burst open to fill growlers. We've written about this spring seasonal before, and expect all the juicy hop goodness to present itself in a new and interesting way from the cask.  Keep in mind that cask ale gets its carbonation from natural fermentation in the vessel, so expect a very different drinking experience (less fizzy, more subtle) than one would get from force-carbonated beer.  Also, expect extreme fragility and consume this whole thing same-day for the best results.  Don't, however, call us in the morning.

Saving the best for last, CBX will be hosting representatives from New Zealand's Moa Brewing for a free tasting from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.  You'll be delighted to find five of their offerings available:
