Sammy The Wonder Dachshund takes his travels to Africa in a brand new book

Jonathan Miller, a native of Clover, South Carolina and author of the adorable children's book, 'Sammy's Last Week in Charleston' is coming back to town to promote his second book in the Sammy series, 'Sammy on Safari.'

With the release of Sammy on Safari, the second book in The Adventure of Sammy the Wonder Dachshund series, readers discover that Sammy has little time to adjust to his cubicle before being dispatched to Africa on assignment. Charged with dispelling an Internet rumor that claims Africa is overrun with kangaroos, Sammy’s quest for the truth leads him to befriend a variety of indigenous animals, including elephants, a zebra, a leopard, a gazelle, hyenas, a crocodile, a hippopotamus, a herd of giraffes, a rhinoceros, monkeys, and a lion. It's a wild ride for the little dog from the Lowcountry!

The new book teaches the importance of kindness and ignites a curiosity of the greater world.

Three days of events are planned for the official release of Sammy on Safari. The author will sign books from 5 to 10 p.m. on January 27th at a pop-up shop located at 438 King Street (look for the monkeys painted on the storefront). Families are encouraged to attend back-to-back appearances at both area Wonder Works on Saturday, January 30th (10 a.m. - noon at the Mt. Pleasant location, 624 Long Point Road; 2 to 4 p.m. at the West Ashley location, 975 Savannah Highway). On January 31st, Chef Bret McKee, Michael Beford, Steve Palmer, and Jason Hogg are hosting a s'mores bonfire in honor of the book from 6 to 9 p.m. at 17 North Roadside Kitchen.

It sure looks like Sammy has a posse, are you in it?
