Wear the art at CFW's kickoff party

Charleston Fashion Week's official kick-off party is promising affordable fun and some art you can wear home.

Get more Charleston Fashion Week coverage in our special section.Put on by Margo Kaufman Gallery, eleven artists are offering up painted dresses that prove the party's title: "Fashion is ART: A Modified Dress Project."

Those artists? David Boatwright, Sally King Benedict, Sharon Lacey, Mclean Shepard, Julie Henson, Kevin Harrison, Helen Rice, Kate Long Stevenson, Jeff Kopish, Rebecca Hawkins, and Seth Curcio.

The event is on Saturday, March 21, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the new restaurant "Shine," at the corner of King and Line streets (that's next to my alma mater, The Post and Courier). Admission is $5.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit Dress for Success Charleston County.
