Step Ahead Inc., a local company specializing in social media marketing, is putting a Halloween spin on social media by hosting a Halloween Monster Mashup at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, October 21st at Taco Boy downtown. The event is a follow up to the Social Media Day meetup the company hosted on June 30th, but with a spooky twist.

Mashable.com, an online source of social and digital media news, tech and web culture, promoted the idea of Social Media Day and encouraged “meetups” around the world. Take the meetup concept, mix it with Halloween and you have Step Ahead’s latest social media event: the Halloween Monster Mashup.

At the event, attendees can dance to “The Monster Mash,” win Halloween goodies, munch on candy corn and network with other social media enthusiasts. Everyone is also encouraged to wear orange and black or dress up in a costume – social media costumes encouraged (think Twitter bird). Prizes will be given to the Foursquare mayor of Taco Boy as well as for best costume and best “Monster Mash” dance. The attendee who best promotes the event via social media receives a free “spirit.”

The event is free. For more information call, Bailey Surrett at (919) 621-0500 or Holly Fisher at (843) 991-1689.

Those tweeting about the event should use the hashtags: #CHS, #monstermash and #smdchs.
