Tickets on sale for North Charleston Dinner Theatre series

The North Charleston Cultural Arts Department has finalized the lineup for the 2012-13 Dinner Theater Series, with four performances paired with dinner. 

Season tickets are on sale now for $135 per person. Group discounts are available. Single performance tickets are priced at $40 and are available for purchase one month prior to each event.  Patrons interested in forgoing dinner and enjoying the performance only may purchase “play only” tickets for $15.

Productions take place in September, November, February, and March. Guests are served dinner at 7 p.m., then sit back to watch lively, and often interactive, performances by professional actors while enjoying dessert and tea or coffee. All programs are scheduled on Friday evenings in the elegant setting of the Embassy Ballroom at the Charleston Area Convention Center Complex, located at 5001 Coliseum Drive in North Charleston. Ticket price includes dinner, play, and gratuity. A cash bar is available. Parking is free.

Performance details and menus are listed below. Meals are catered by Embassy Suites and include a garden salad, meat entrée with vegetable and starch, rolls & butter, dessert, coffee & tea. Vegetarian alternatives may be requested in advance.

September 14, 2012 – The Gentleman Pirate performed by Rodney Lee Rogers of PURE Theatre
Written and performed by PURE Theatre co-founder Rodney Lee Rogers, this show is a one-of-a kind, interactive theatrical event that brings to life the trials and glories of Stede Bonnet, also known as “The Gentleman Pirate.”

  • Entree: Grilled Cypress Chicken-Italian marinated, served with garlic infused tomato concasse and herb aioli

November 9, 2012 - When the Frost is On the Pumpkinperformed by Tim Lowry
Always on the lookout for a story that is “ripe for the telling,” award-winning storyteller, Tim Lowry, brings a collection of tales harvested from America’s fields, farms, and firesides. 

  • Entree: Pork Chop-Boneless chop with soy, maple & red chili marinade, topped with sweet charred corn relish

February 8, 2013 – Waiting on You performed by The Actors’ Theatre of South Carolina
Created by Tyler Ilgen in honor of Valentine's Day, this romantic romp is filled with images of dancer Gene Kelly, the sounds of Frank Sinatra, and the romance of the 40’s – a lighthearted celebration of the foibles and fun of true love.

  • Entree: Three Cheese Chicken—Lightly breaded with vegetable julienne, three cheeses, and peppercorn hollandaise

March 22, 2013 – Forever Plaid performed by The Flowertown Players
This deliciously goofy off-Broadway musical revue centers on four young, eager male singers in the 1950's. Killed in a car crash on the way to their first big concert, the boys are miraculously revived for the posthumous chance to fulfill their dreams and perform the show that never was. 

  • Entree: Pulled Pork with sweet apple balsamic syrup
