For a total of five days, the Myrtle Beach Battle of the Bands aims to "entertain and expose" and the winner of the battle will take home $1,000.

Starting tonight, Thursday, June 14, 2012, the Sound Hole will host a multi-day battle of the bands competition to find the best of the best along the Grand Strand but this Battle of the Bands will be a bit different than others we've seen locally.

The official rules to the contest include no-nonsense quips such as “No lame-ass meetings to attend,” “No rip-off entry fee” and “Pithy 30-minute sets please.”

Other difference makers include letting bands use their own gear (“No ‘One Size Fits All’ backline to share!”), the inclusion of only bands within an hour of the beach and perhaps most importantly in this beach bar town — No cover songs allowed.
