First reporting:

Five of Charleston's most exciting contemporary artists to showcase their work from May 22nd to June 7th at the City Gallery at Waterfront Park.

Dorothy Netherland, Jonathan Brilliant, Ben Timpson, Karin Olah and Ishmael all take part in the collective exhitibit, "Contemporary Charleston 2009: Revelation of Process." The show, curated by Erin Glaze, uses various mediums including textiles, graffiti, painted glass, photography, and miniature compositions.

"This wonderful concept is the brainchild of our Gallery coordinator, Erin Glaze. We are extremely impressed with her curatorial skills,” says Ellen Dressler Moryl, Director of the City of Charleston Office of Cultural Affairs. “I feel that her thoughtful approach has revealed each individual artist’s vision, with the final result serving as a true inspiration to others to make art and push the limits of their creative process.”

There will be an opening reception on Friday, May 15th, from 6 to 8 p.m. There will also be lectures by each artist; Ishmael, June 13th, Timpson, June 20th, Netherland, July 11th, and Brilliant, July 18th.

The exhibit is open May 15th to July 26th, Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Noon to 5 p.m. During Piccolo Spoleto, May 22nd through June 7th, the City Gallery at Waterfront Park is open is special hours, Monday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The City Gallery at Waterfront Park is located at 34 Prioleau Street.
