Charleston Stage debuts 'Putnam County Spelling Bee' (update: thumbs up)

First reporting: Come follow along as several young people learn that "winning isn't everything" during the performance of the Tony-Award winning Broadway show "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Dock Street Theatre.

Charleston Stage will debut this hilarious play about six adolescents trying to survive puberty amid the backdrop of a spelling bee. As an added bonus, a secret local celebrity will play a guest speller in the production.

Performances dates and times are as follows: This Friday and Saturday and February 16-19, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday and Feb. 20 at 3 p.m.
