This weekend (June 27-28) marks the 233rd anniversary of the Battle of Sullivan's Island.

The Charleston Mercury offers a twist on the usual story and tells the tale from the British perspective.

But if reading about history isn't your thing, know that there will be Carolina Day celebrations downtown as well as at Fort Moultrie to commemorate this important day in South Carolina history.

On Saturday, June 27, at 10:30 a.m. there will be a parade from Washington Park down to The Battery. Then on Sunday there will be events throughout the day at Fort Moultrie on Sullivan's Island, with a main event at 7 p.m.

For some more history on the day as well as listing of events, check out The Post and Courier letter from John Paul Trouche.
