There are few more beautiful places to celebrate the holidays than Middleton Place, a national historic landmark and home of America's oldest landscaped gardens.

This holiday season, Middleton Place is hosting three different events designed for the entire family.

On Friday, December 10th from 6:30-8:30 p.m celebrate the holiday season with a special performance by candlelight tour at the Edmondston-Alston House. The historic house will be decorated for the holidays much as it would have been in 1860. Living historians in period clothing tell the story of Charleston’s last opulent Christmas before the start of the Civil War and Christmas traditions of the day. In the courtyard, visitors may enjoy hot cider and hear Christmas carols and spirituals sung by the Washingtons, Low Country singers specializing in African-American spirituals and Gullah songs.

On Saturday, December 11th from 5:30-8 p.m. families can enjoy storytelling around a warm fire, Christmas caroling, and ornament and wreath making. See craftspeople working in their shops by candlelight, and a live nativity scene featuring many of the Plantation's animals. Hot cider and seasonal refreshments included.

Friday, December 17th and Saturday, December 18th from 6 to 8 p.m. come out for Grand Illumination: Christmas 1782. Step back in time to Christmas, 1782. Stroll through gardens illuminated by torchlight, candlelight and starlight. Hear costumed interpreters along the way tell stories of this joyous holiday season when the British evacuated Charleston and the Middleton family was reunited near the end of the Revolutionary War. See the House seasonally decorated and glowing in candlelight, enjoy a warm fire, live music and a buffet dinner in the Pavilion.
