Charleston movie and music lovers are invited to an exclusive opportunity to enjoy a screening of the indie film, "Faces in the Mirror," created by acclaimed Dave Matthews Band violinist, Boyd Tinsley.

With production partner Filament Productions, Tinsley created the experimental film in an atypical order of production, composing the score before the cast and crew were gathered. As the film never had a script, the story advances primarily through music, acting, and stunning cinematography. A one-of-a-kind film experience, Tinsley describes it as a “modern-day silent picture,” adding, “It’s almost like the film is the score.” Tinsley and his bandmates from Dave Matthews Band recorded the film’s soundtrack over a five-day period in Seattle. The film follows the story of a young man, Ben Fisher – played by actor Ryan Orr, who returns home to bury his estranged father. On the day of his father’s funeral, Ben goes on a dream-like journey as he searches for forgiveness. Orr says, “This film is so strong... because it came from a very deep, emotional place.”

After only a few screenings, the film has received rave reviews. One critic at the Virginia Film Festival said, “Highlighted by an intoxicating musical score, unforgettable visuals, and visceral emotion, this is a film that is not meant to be merely seen, but experienced.” Rolling Stone magazine describes it as “riveting” and Vibe considers it “outstanding.”

Presented by the Charleston International Film Festival, the screening will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 21 at Charleston Music Hall. Tinsley, accompanying the film, will follow the screening with a live musical performance. Tickets are available online now.
