Getting Healthy in the Holy City is Getting Easier

On
February 20th, talented local chefs Jeremiah Bacon of Carolina's, Sean Brock of
McCrady's, Craig Deihl of Cypress, Frank Lee of Slightly North of Broad, Nathan
Thurston of the Ocean Room at Kiawah Island Resort and Nate Whiting of Tristan
will compete in a culinary competition with a conscience at the Art Institute
of Charleston.

Beginning at 9 a.m., each chef will prepare a dish certified as
heart healthy by dieticians from East Cooper Regional Medical Center, the
Medical University of South Carolina and Roper Hospital.

Entrees will be judged, beginning at 11 a.m. based on taste, presentation, texture and originality. Mayor
Joe Riley will announce the winner of the competition during the 2010 BB&T
Charleston Wine & Food Festival
.

Keep an eye out for the heart and halo logo, which will denote each chef's heart healthy creation on his restaurant’s menu for the next year. The initiative is planning to spread to other restaurants and grace the pages of menus throughout the lowcountry.

Space is limited for this event, if you are interested in attending, please contact Neita Weise at (843) 216-0847.
