Aiming to shape "the future of social media in our local area," locals have organized a Charleston branch of Social Media Club.

And the group is holding its "Break-Out Event" on Tuesday, June 23, at 6:30 p.m. where after introducing the club a panel of local media folks will discuss the role of social media in their day-to-day operations.

And, that's where I have to come clean: I will be one of those five panelists.

If you're a local media geek this is a great chance to see how the local media folks envision online citizens interacting with their media outlets.

Here's the full rundown of the speakers and the event, from the Facebook event page:

Social Media Club Charleston (SMCC) asks members of the local media, “What value do you find in social media?”
