New Mount Pleasant Farmers Market now complete (updated)

Image by Austin Dandridge/TheDigitelImage by 20090512-farmers.jpg The new market is largely made of two wooden pavilions complete with fans, lights, and electricity. The Post and Courier has more photos of the facility.

Update May 12: We've just returned from our podcasting session at the market, where we also snagged a bunch. You can view them all on Flickr or check out the slideshow above.

First reporting:

Mount Pleasant's new farmers market is now complete and will hold a grand opening ceremony today, May 12th at 4:30 p.m.

Granted, little will change about the core offering of fresh fruits, vegetables, prepared food and crafts, only now there will be two large wooden pavilions that will provide relief from sun and rain alike.

The market will run from 3 p.m. until dusk, and will continue to do so every Tuesday until October 20. -- But rest assured that the new facility won't sit idle when not in use, the town promises that the facility will have other uses.

If you want to know more about the new market be sure to take a gander at Robert Behre's column over at The Post and Courier, and do look at the photos, too.

If you want to know who all will be at the market, the Town of Mount Pleasant has a rundown (yes, the Charleston Crepe Company is returning this year).

Or, if you'd rather find a market closer to home, be sure to take a look at our farmers market guide page.
