Cocelerator: collaboration to help startups in Myrtle Beach (Tomorrow)

Just a reminder....

A new program in Myrtle Beach called Cocelerator that draws the power of connection, mentorship, and collaboration to help people turn their ideas and startups into innovative businesses more quickly.

With already established and nationally recognized programs like TechStars and Y Combinator, the growing number of accelerator programs are popping up in 'big cities' on each coast and in 'flyover' areas. But, what is an accelerator? The idea is simple: mentor, help, and fund startup companies that can make an impact both on the national level and more importantly help bolster the local economy. Some municipalities have even begun their own startup seed funds.

That concept is coming to Myrtle Beach thanks to the people at Cowork MYR. Cowork has announced Cocelerator the first ever accelerator type program in the area. To be clear, however, this is not a true accelerator as of yet since there will be no funding of startups this first go around.

"We believe that sharing ideas with a trusted group of mentors and peers is the absolute fastest way to refine and validate a concept. While there are plans in the works to develop a more full service startup accelerator program, this initial effort will be a simple single event format. Consider it Cocelerator Alpha."

During the Cocelerator an entrepreneur gives a five minute presentation of their project. It can be a live demo, a pitch deck, or even mock-ups. The pitch should be an idea that they have spent time researching and thinking about how it could become a viable business. Immediately following the presentation, a pre-selected panel of entrepreneurs, professionals, and investors will ask questions and offer advice along with constructive criticism.
