Update April 26: The Post and Courier has an article from the commissioning ceremony where you can learn a little more about the ship and where they'll go after Charleston.

First reporting:

In town for a commissioning ceremony at the Naval Weapons Station, the USS Truxtun DDG-103 guided missile destroyer and its 400 crew will stop at the Union Pier in downtown Charleston for public viewing.

Viewing will be available on Monday and Tuesday April 20 and 21 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 8 a.m. to noon, respectively. After that the ship is off to the Naval Weapons Station for its military commissioning ceremony at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 25th.

The ceremony is being held in Charleston as a reminder of our city's once a present importance to the navy. -- I could go on, but The Post and Courier has don a better job talking about that than I would.
