Visitors to Middleton Place National Historic Landmark, a carefully preserved 18th century rice plantation, are invited to come out and experience Plantation Days on October 16th and 17th, and again on November 6th and 7th.

The event is a celebration of the sights and sounds of harvest time with different aspects of plantation life explored each weekend. Now in its 40th year, Plantation Days features demonstrations of the various tasks that would have been performed by slaves on an 18th and 19th-century plantation.

Visitors can observe interpreters performing domestic skills such as open fire cooking, spinning wool, dipping candles, pressing apples, grinding corn and butter churning. In addition, guests can visit the blacksmith, weaving, pottery and carpentry shops and taste samples of typical Lowcountry food cooked on an open fire.

On October 16th and 17th, and November 6th and 7th, general admission for Active Duty Military with valid ID and immediate family will be free. Included in general admission are complimentary garden overview tours offered on the hour, African American Focus Tours, and all activities associated with Plantation Days.
